I guess you really do not have to have a reason to travel south to warmer climates. If you have to really know why we like to vacation south in Mexico, just follow this link.
NOAA Eight Day History for Post Falls, Idaho.
You will notice that we have not been above 30 degrees for the eight days you can view on the link. I checked the monthly readings for the temperature and found that we have not been above 30 since November 29th. I am a bit tired of the cold and real tired of having dry skin and lips.
So tonight we get up at 2:30 AM and drive to the airport where we will fly out at 5:30 AM. We first fly to Seattle, followed by Los Angeles and then on to Manzanillo, Mexico. I imagine when we leave the temperature will be in the mid 20's and when we land in Mexico it will be in the mid 80's. How fun is that!
We are basically packed and ready to fly. I will be posting as much as possible while we are gone. I really want to thank Emily, Mandolin and Pedro for taking care of Kobi and our house while we are gone. They are real troopers for helping us over the break.
Hope everyone enjoys the holidays. Remember we are thinking about you as we spend out days in the sun and fun of Mexico. Yes it brings me joy to make you jealous, it is one of my favorite things this time of year. Que chevere cada uno!

Blog Surfing
I was just on the NATCOA Forum and clicked on the Truck Camper Magazine tab at the top of the page; it led me to an interview with two 30 somethings who are living full time in their camper. Linda and I have talked about this a bunch and we actually sold the last camper and purchased the Snow River with this scenario in the back of our minds. When we retire we'll probably do a combination of full-time travel and exploring around home here.
The folks also blog as they go about their adventures, so I thought that was pretty cool. Their blog is called Hitek Homeless, if you get a chance give it a visit.
Linda is now free for the summer. It has not been the best year and I look forward to her getting back to normal and relaxing a bit more. Our trip plans for the summer are a bit sketchy so far. We know that we have one river trip planned, one house party planned, one camping trip planned, my nieces wedding to attend, two duathlons to attend, a new dog to train, and Linda's sister and family will be visiting some time this summer. I hope we can get our camping about four other times and possibly add another river trip to the docket, but who knows. We will be playing it by ear for the rest of the summer.

Google Gadgets and More
Remember when I said I was obsessed with this blogging thing? The obsession continues. Yesterday Alex, (OWL X of Team Harris) showed me a couple new side bar gadgets, one is the weather and the other is a ditty that tells me which sites canyonwren has been posted as a link. We’ll see if we like these two items, they may change if I don’t think they are useful or operate properly.
Next I got to playing with the header picture that I developed a few weeks ago and I think I have it the way I want it. You may, or may not have noticed that it changes every so often. This will be something I will try to do to improve the site so that when we are not adventuring, like now when we are covered with snow, I can change the site slightly to make it so people want to visit more often. You can scroll down to the bottom of the blog on the right and see a little box of text that tells about this header adventure. Follow the link and it will take you to the post explaining the header picture posted if you want more information about it. I will post the explanation of this picture next, that post will become the ever changing post explaining the picture. That’s a lot of words don’t you ting? No more COFFEE!

A Couple Thoughts - That's All I Have
I have been thinking about Blogging quite a bit since my Brother-in-law Al Dee, created a way cool coffee table book of my first two years of blogging. He used a web based publisher called Blurb and the final product was mind boggling. I can’t say how much I like my gift and it is so typical that Diana and Al Dee would come up with such a great idea.
While thinking about blogging, a friend and co-worker, Alex started a blog. I teased him about this because when the “Weird Al” Yankovich song White & Nerdy came out (you have to hear it and listen to the words), Alex was all over me because I had created a MySpace for my dog Baka. As Al says "I even made a MySpace for my dog!", so the endless teasing began. The Team Harris blog gave me the opportunity for payback, but I think it is also giving Alex an opportunity to let his friends see what is happening in his world and what he is thinking.
I keep up with Beth’s blog and follow her links and attachments. A recent post led me to the blog of Andrew Olmsted who was in the service and blogging from Iraq. Andrew was killed serving our country, his last post was very thought provoking and sad. Andrew had the vision to write his last post just in case he was killed, I wish I had found his blog before he died. Visit it and see what I mean.
Holly and Ryan Edwards have started a blog for their family. Since Zane arrived they found that this would work well to keep their friends and family posted on his accomplishments as well as how their family was progressing with all the new adventures before them.
You are probably asking why I was thinking about this so much. Each of these blogs is written and maintained in a different format and style. Each provides a look into the lives of the individual who posts on them. I have really enjoyed being able to see what each of these folks are doing, thinking, and believing. There blogs have led me to many interesting sites with though provoking information. It has opened up my world significantly.
Blogging has given me a chance to document our trips and our family happenings. The most important by-product for me is the history it provides. I can use the site to recall when we did something and where we went. When I feel down, I can go in and read the posts and it lifts me up and reminds me how lucky I am. I now feel that it is such an important part of my life, that I will be invested in blogging until I post my final post, much like Andrew.
