A Chance Meeting, Coffee & Arches - Saturday, March 26

Linda woke early the next morning to snow on the ground and clouds in the sky. She got ready and took the dog and Jeep to an area just our side of town. There she and Baka went running as I slept. When she got back from her run she was excited to tell me that she had bumped into our friends, Tom and Sarah, Curt and Gwen, from Coeur d’Alene. They were down in Moab getting gear for their canoe trip on the Green River. It was quite the coincidence for them to meet and Linda was quite excited. I got up made my coffee and got everything ready for our first shower since we left town. When Linda arrived we marveled at her chance meeting with our friends and we took our showers and got ready for the day.

Our day consisted of going into Moab, connecting to the internet, writing a few emails and then heading to the Arches entrance to gather information about the hikes. We paid our entrance fee for the week ($10) and got signed up for a guided hike ($8 each) into the Fiery Furnace area of the park. This hike would take place Monday which gives us something else to be excited about.

After checking the park information center we drove down the north side of the Colorado River and looked at the Jeepers driving in some amazing rock areas. We turned around and followed the river up along the highway past our camp and went 21 miles to look for our Outdoor Pursuits group. On the way back we got a nice view of Fisher Towers.

They were down mountain biking for the week and I said we would try to run into them. Our gas was low so we took some pictures and returned to Moab and filled up before returning to camp to make a Dutch oven dinner.
